Adrian Fernandez

Adrian Fernandez established himself as a dominant force in motorsports, securing the Mexican Formula Vee Series championship in both 1983 and 1984, followed by the Mexican F3 Championship in 1991. After competing in various Formula Ford series across Europe starting in 1987, Fernandez relocated to the United States in 1992, making an immediate impact in the Indy Lights Series by achieving a rookie record of four wins and earning the ‘Indy Lights Rookie of the Year’ title. This success propelled him into the CART IndyCar World Series in 1993, beginning his tenure with Galles Racing. Fernandez enjoyed a distinguished career in the CART Series from 1993 to 2000, where he achieved his first major victory at Toronto in 1996 with Tasman Motorsports.

His comprehensive understanding of the sport’s business aspects, honed during his time as an owner-driver with Fernandez Racing, continues to make him a prominent figure in the racing world. In recognition of his enduring contributions to motorsport, Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez honored Fernandez by naming Turn 12 after him in 2016.
