Ahmed Ahmed

Ahmed Ahmed was born in Helwan, Egypt, and moved to the United States when he was one month old. He grew up in Riverside, California, before relocating to Los Angeles at age 19 to pursue a career in acting and stand-up comedy. He attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, laying the foundation for a career spanning film, television, and live performance.

Ahmed’s acting career includes appearances in notable films such as “Executive Decision” (1996) alongside Kurt Russell, Steven Seagal, and Halle Berry, “Swingers” (1996), “Iron Man” (2008), and “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan” (2008). On television, he has been featured in series like “Tracey Takes On…”, “Roseanne”, “Weeds”, and had a regular role as Ahmed Nassar in the TBS sitcom “Sullivan & Son” (2012–2014). This role earned him recognition as an Arab-American actor playing a non-stereotypical character in a comedy sitcom. His contributions to comedy were recognized in 2004 when he received the first annual Richard Pryor Award for ethnic comedy at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival in Scotland.

Beyond acting and stand-up, Ahmed made his directorial debut with the documentary “Just Like Us” (2011). This film, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and won multiple awards, chronicled a tour where Ahmed and other American comedians performed for Arab and Muslim audiences across Dubai, Egypt, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia. The documentary was praised for promoting cross-cultural dialogue and led to invitations to the White House and State Department. He also co-founded and performed in the “Axis of Evil Comedy Tour,” which aired as a Comedy Central special in 2005. Ahmed continues to perform regularly at renowned comedy clubs like The Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory, and The Comedy Cellar, and tours extensively both nationally and internationally. He is currently in post-production for “Just Like Us Too.”
