Amber Hill

Born Amber Jo Hill on August 21, 1997, in Windsor, Berkshire, England, she began her shooting career at the age of ten, encouraged by her grandfather, Bill Rogers. Her early involvement led to participation in numerous local competitions, where she quickly distinguished herself, earning multiple age group titles and setting various shotgun records. Her talent was recognized early, leading to her selection for England’s senior women’s team with a specialization in skeet shooting by the age of twelve.

Hill made a significant impact in 2013, becoming the youngest ever winner, at 15, on the ISSF World Cup series. She secured a gold medal at her first career attempt, triumphing over Italy’s Diana Bacosi in a shoot-off and establishing a junior world record. This achievement culminated in her finishing the season as the top-ranked senior for Great Britain and fifth globally. Her success was further highlighted by being named the BBC’s Young Sports Personality of the Year. Throughout her career, Hill has been coached by Joe Neville at the E.J. Churchill Shooting Ground.

Her career continued to advance with key milestones. At the 2015 European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan, she won gold in women’s skeet, securing an Olympic quota place for Great Britain. That same year, she won the World Cup Final in Nicosia, Cyprus. She participated in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, finishing 6th. Although she had to withdraw from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics due to COVID-19, she earned a silver medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, an achievement that included a controversial shot call during a tiebreaking shoot-off. In July 2022, Hill became Great Britain’s most decorated international shooter in ISSF World Cup events, surpassing Richard Faulds with her 11th medal.
