Aimie Atkinson is an English stage actress and singer. Atkinson was born and raised in Stevenage. She studied at Collenswood School in Stevenage, where she was also part of the Fusion Performing Arts group. With the group Atkinson took part in many of their productions. After finishing school, Atkinson worked in a music publishing company as an admin assistant and ran a franchise for the Stagecraft school in Stevenage. Atkinson and a friend of hers both agreed to apply to the BBC Radio 2, Voice of Musical Theatre competition, while they were studying at the Arts Educational School. Atkinson won for the amateur competition, and later joined a final competition against the final professional contestants, those with at least five years of stage experience. Atkinson won that competition too. At the age of 19, Atkinson decided to become a full-time stage actress, taking her first professional job in Howard Goodall’s Days of Hope at the King’s Head Theatre. Atkinson later started an intensive course in musical theatre at the Royal Academy of Music. Atkinson left the course in order to follow the UK touring production of Zorro, where she was playing the part of Luisa. Atkinson later got a part in a musical play as a sassy 40 year old singer. Atkinson’s latest appearance was as Vivian Ward in the West End production of Pretty Woman: The Musical alongside Danny Mac and Piccadilly Theatre, which took place in early 2020.
