Aimie Allen-Atkinson was born on June 5, 1987, in Stevenage, England. Her exposure to music at a young age through her father, a part-time rock band musician, nurtured her early interest in singing. She was actively involved in the Fusion Performing Arts group during her time at Collenswood School in Stevenage, participating in numerous productions. After completing her GCSEs, Atkinson worked as an admin assistant in a music publishing company and ran a franchise for the Stagecraft school. These early experiences laid the groundwork for her eventual career in the performing arts.
Atkinson’s professional career began after winning the BBC Radio 2 Voice of Musical Theatre competition. She secured her first professional stage role at 19 in Howard Goodall’s ‘Days of Hope’ at the King’s Head Theatre. This led to various roles, including Luisa in the UK touring production of ‘Zorro’, Daniela in ‘In The Heights’ at the King’s Cross Theatre, and Princess Jasmine in ‘Aladdin’. A significant milestone came with her originating the role of Katherine Howard in the West End production of ‘SIX: The Musical’, for which she received an Olivier Award nomination in 2019. In 2020, Atkinson took on the lead role of Vivian Ward in the West End production of ‘Pretty Woman: The Musical’ at the Piccadilly Theatre, a role she reprised when the show reopened in 2021 at the Savoy Theatre.
Beyond her acting career, Atkinson has also pursued music. She released her debut solo album, ‘Step Inside of Love’, in 2017. As part of the girl group Goldstone, she competed in ‘Eurovision: You Decide 2018’ and won the ‘Voice Of Astana’ with their song ‘I Feel The Love’. In 2021, she co-founded SVN, a seven-piece girl group comprising original West End cast members of ‘SIX’, releasing singles such as “Woman” and “Free.” Her recordings also include contributions to ‘100 Greatest Musicals’ and ‘SIX: The Musical (Studio Cast Recording)’. She recently competed in ‘Una voce per San Marino 2024’ with her song “A Dare for Love” and was cast as Lucia in ‘Figaro: An Original Musical’ at the London Palladium in September 2024.
