Olivia Palermo was born on February 28, 1986, in New York City, and raised on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and in Greenwich, Connecticut. Her early life involved schooling at Nightingale-Bamford School and St. Luke’s School, followed by studies at the American University of Paris and The New School. During her early career, Palermo interned at Quest magazine and became known for appearing in social event coverage, actively participating in New York’s charity scene with organizations like the Friends Committee of New Yorkers For Children and Operation Smile.
Palermo’s career gained wider recognition when she appeared on MTV’s television show, “The City,” from 2008 to 2010. During her time on the show, she interned for Diane von Fürstenberg and later worked in the accessories department for Elle magazine. In 2009, she signed with Wilhelmina International Inc. to focus on brand development. She became a guest editor for Piperlime.com in 2011 and appeared as a guest judge on “Project Runway” Season 9 and “Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model” Season 7. In 2010, Palermo modeled for Autumn/Winter campaigns for Mango and Hogan. She launched her personal website in October 2011, featuring editorial content on fashion, beauty, and lifestyle. In 2021, she launched Olivia Palermo Beauty, a vegan and cruelty-free cosmetics and skincare brand, which continues to expand internationally. She served as the brand ambassador for Pikolinos’ Maasai Project in 2013 and 2014, and was appointed Banana Republic’s first Women’s Global Style Ambassador from 2016 to 2017.
