Arthur Juan Brown, born on June 30, 1997, in Starkville, Mississippi, began his athletic career excelling in both football and baseball at Starkville High School. He was a highly recruited two-sport athlete, participating in both the Under Armour All-America Football Game and Baseball Game. Brown committed to the University of Mississippi to play both sports, though he eventually signed with the San Diego Padres in the 2016 MLB Draft, which prevented him from playing college baseball but allowed him to pursue college football. During his time at Ole Miss (2016-2018), Brown was a dominant wide receiver, twice earning first-team All-SEC honors. He set school records for receiving yards in a season (1,252 yards in 2017 and 1,320 yards in 2018) and receptions. These collegiate achievements paved the way for his professional career in the NFL.
Brown was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the second round (51st overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. In his rookie year, he led all NFL rookies with 1,051 receiving yards and recorded eight receiving touchdowns, earning a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie Team. His consistent performance continued with the Titans, highlighted by a Pro Bowl selection in 2020 after achieving 1,075 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. In 2022, Brown was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he signed a lucrative four-year, $100 million contract. His tenure with the Eagles has been marked by significant milestones, including setting a franchise record for single-season receiving yards (1,496 yards in 2022) and an NFL record for six consecutive games with at least 125 receiving yards in 2023. He has earned three second-team All-Pro selections and two more Pro Bowl nods while with the Eagles, and was a key player in their Super Bowl LIX championship victory in 2025.
Off the field, Brown is recognized for his advocacy in mental health. In 2021, he publicly shared his personal struggles with depression and suicidal ideation during the 2020 NFL season, encouraging others to seek help. This candid sharing highlights his character beyond his athletic prowess. He also launched the A.J. Brown Foundation, dedicated to youth resilience and confidence.
