Kenneth Lee Stills Jr. was born on April 22, 1992, in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. He established himself as a versatile athlete during his high school years at La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad, California, excelling in football, basketball, and track. His football career particularly stood out, setting a San Diego area record with 3,041 career receiving yards. Stills continued his athletic and academic journey at the University of Oklahoma, playing college football for the Oklahoma Sooners from 2010 to 2012. During his three seasons, he accumulated 204 receptions for 2,594 yards and 24 touchdowns. Following a successful college career, Stills decided to enter the NFL Draft a year early.
Stills was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He quickly made an impact, recording 32 receptions for 641 receiving yards and five touchdowns in his rookie season. His tenure with the Saints continued through 2014, where he achieved career highs with 63 receptions and 931 receiving yards. In 2015, Stills was traded to the Miami Dolphins, where he played for four seasons. During his time with the Dolphins, he solidified his role as a consistent wide receiver and a vocal advocate for social justice, famously kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality starting in 2016.
After his time with the Dolphins, Stills was traded to the Houston Texans in 2019. He played for the Texans until being waived in November 2020, contributing to their offense with 40 receptions for 561 yards and four touchdowns in his first season with the team. Stills then had brief stints with the Buffalo Bills in 2021 and returned to the New Orleans Saints for a second period in 2021 before concluding his professional playing career. Throughout his career, Stills maintained his commitment to social activism, notably participating in protests for Breonna Taylor in 2020, resulting in his arrest and demonstrating his dedication to off-field causes.
