United States Alaska Thunderfuck 5000 is a multifaceted entertainer, renowned drag queen, recording artist, and media personality who has leveraged her unique artistry into successful ventures across television, music, and digital platforms.
Alaska, alongside Willam Belli and Courtney Act, were the first drag queens in history to become ad girls for American Apparel. They worked for the campaign 'Support Artists, Support Ethical Manufacturing' of the fashion brand, featuring three limited exclusive T-shirts that honors each drag queen's talents and allure.
Justin Andrew Honard, known professionally as Alaska Thunderfuck 5000, was born on March 6, 1985, in Erie, Pennsylvania. He pursued formal education in theater at the University of Pittsburgh. Following his graduation, he relocated to Los Angeles, California, with the intention of securing acting roles. During this period, he developed and commenced his professional drag career under the persona of “Alaska.” His early career involved performances at venues such as Fubar in West Hollywood and participation in Trannyshack shows, including Palm Springs Gay Pride in 2009 alongside drag queens Tammie Brown and Jer Ber Jones.
Alaska’s career trajectory significantly advanced with his participation in RuPaul’s Drag Race. After multiple auditions, he appeared as a contestant on the fifth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2013, where he achieved the position of runner-up. During his time on the show, he won two main challenges and four mini-challenges. Post-Drag Race, Alaska expanded his artistic endeavors, releasing his debut album, “Anus,” in 2015. His continued success led to his victory on the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars in 2016, where he secured four maxi-challenge wins, further solidifying his standing in the drag community. Subsequent album releases include “Poundcake” (2016), “Vagina” (2019), and “Red 4 Filth” (2022).
Beyond competitive drag, Alaska has engaged in diverse projects. He co-hosts the podcast “Race Chaser” with Willam Belli since 2018, which analyzes episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race. He has also ventured into acting, appearing in films such as “The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time” (2018) and the TV series “Eastsiders” (2012). His theatrical work includes playing Dr. Frank N. Furter in “The Rocky Horror Show” in 2013 and Queen Gynecia in “Head over Heels” in 2021. In 2021, he released his memoir, “My Name’s Yours, What’s Alaska?: A Memoir,” and in 2023 and 2025, he took on the role of Princess in the “Dungeons & Dragons” themed show “Dungeons and Drag Queens” for “Dimension 20.”
