Alex Williamson was born in Adelaide, Australia, on August 4, 1988, and raised in the rural town of Willunga. His interest in video making and media developed during his time at Tatachilla Lutheran College. Even while still attending school and after graduation, Williamson began creating and regularly posting comedy videos on YouTube. His early career gained momentum through his AFL Dream Team video series and interviews with notable AFL players like Kurt Tippett, Jack Trengove, Tom Scully, Daniel Motlop, and Andrew Embley. These online endeavors eventually led to his breakthrough into mainstream media.
Williamson’s career progressed into radio, where he held Sunday night shifts at Adelaide Radio Station SAFM and the national comedy radio channel Barry. This exposure and his established online presence culminated in an opportunity in Los Angeles. In early 2011, he moved to Los Angeles and began his role on The Hot Hits Live from LA in April of the same year. Alongside his media work, Williamson has a background in stand-up comedy, performing since the age of 18 and becoming a state finalist in Triple J’s Raw Comedy Award in 2009.
Demonstrating a versatile portfolio, Williamson has also been involved in film and television projects. He appeared as ‘Bully’ in the 2009 film “Beautiful” and as ‘Darryl’ in “Me and My Mates vs. The Zombie Apocalypse” in 2015. He also contributed as an uncredited ‘Miner’ in “Red Dog” (2011) and had a role in the TV series “#7DaysLater” (2013). More recently, he served as a producer for the TV series “Earthsounds” in 2024. Throughout his career, Williamson has maintained his comedic online presence under the moniker “Shooter.”
