The wonderfully talented Alexey Silde is a former professional Ballroom Dancer, who specialised in the Latin style. He is now a choreographer, coach, adjudicator, entrepreneur, and a dance studio owner. As a dancer he was a 3x Russian National Amateur Latin Champion, a 2x WDSF World Amateur Latin Champion, as well as a medalist at all major International competitions, including the Blackpool Dance Festival.
Born and raised in St Petersburg, Russia, Silde started dancing in 1996, partnering with Daria Ivanova and competed in the national amateur dance circuit in his native Russia. In 1999 he started partnering with Anna Firstova, going on to achieve many national and international dance titles. The couple were triumphant in the Russian National Amateur Latin Championships three times, at the WDSF European Amateur Latin Championships, twice at the WDSF World Amateur Latin Championships, and at the WDSF World Games Latin Championships. They also medaled at the German Open Championships, the International Championships, and the Blackpool Dance Festival.
Silde and Firstova turned professional in 2011, and went on to become the WDSF Professional European Latin champions and the WDSF Professional World Latin champions. They retired from the dance circuit soon after, and Silde began coaching and adjudicating.
