Aloïse Retornaz

Aloïse Retornaz was born on February 3, 1994, in Brest, France. She began sailing at the age of seven and pursued her education at ISEN Brest. Her early engagement in sailing laid the groundwork for a distinguished career in the sport, where she has primarily competed in the 470 class, along with experience in Nacra 17 and 420 classes. Retornaz has represented France in numerous international events, demonstrating her skill and dedication from a young age.

Throughout her career, Retornaz has achieved significant milestones. In 2019, she and her sailing partner, Camille Lecointre, won the 470 European Championships in Sanremo, Italy. The same year, they secured a silver medal in the 470 event at the Military World Games in Wuhan, China. Their success continued with a victory at the Sailing World Cup in Marseille. These achievements led to Retornaz and Lecointre being jointly awarded the 2019 Sailor of the Year by the French Sailing Federation.

A pivotal achievement in Retornaz’s career was earning a bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, in the women’s 470 event, again alongside Camille Lecointre. She also secured another gold medal at the 470 European Championships in Vilamoura, Portugal, in 2021. Retornaz continues to participate in high-level competitions, including recent appearances at the European Nacra 17 Championships, and has been involved in the French Youth and Women’s America’s Cup projects.
