Born on March 31, 1989, Stephanie Roble grew up in East Troy, Wisconsin, where she began sailing scows and dinghies on Lake Beulah at age five. Her passion for sailing and competition developed in the Optimist class during her junior years. She attended Old Dominion University, where she continued her successful sailing career, earning two All-American honors and serving as team captain. She graduated in 2011 with a degree in Finance and was notable as one of the few women skippering in the open division.
After university, Stephanie transitioned to a professional sailing career, participating in Melges 20, J70, and Etchells classes. She has held various roles, including bow, tactician, strategist, and helm. Her career highlights include winning one World Championship, five National Championships, and securing multiple podium finishes at World, National, and Continental Championships. A significant recognition in her career was being awarded the 2014 US Sailing Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year, the highest honor in American sailing, for which she was also a finalist for the subsequent three years.
Since 2016, Stephanie Roble has campaigned in the 49erFX class with her partner Maggie Shea. Key achievements in this partnership include a 5th place at the 2018 European Championships, 3rd at the World Cup Series Genoa, and 3rd at the 2020 49erFX World Championship. They represented the USA at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, finishing 11th, and subsequently qualified for their second Olympic appearance at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where they finished 10th. She has also earned a silver medal in the 49er FX class at the 2019 Pan American Games and a bronze at the 2023 Pan American Games, further solidifying her position as a leading figure in American sailing.
