Perfumer Amandine Clerc-Marie is world famous for creating the new Cholé fragrance in 2008 with Robertet perfumer Michel Almairac. The Firmenich perfumer has also composed over 95 fragrances for the likes of Thierry Mugler, Yves Saint Laurent, Sisley, Van Cleef & Arpels, Estēe Lauder, L’Occitane en Provence, Jimmy Choo and Lancôme. One of the first women to conquer this typically male domain, she has helped restore the balance and continues to produce best-selling scents.
Clerc -Marie’s mother worked in the perfume industry, and she grew up keen to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Familiar with the world of fragrance for as long as she can remember, her own career came naturally when her sense of taste came to life suddenly whilst learning about raw materials during her apprenticeship. After studying at the prestigious ISIPCA, she wrote a thesis on the fragrance Bel Ami and how it could be modernized. Her work came to the attention of perfumer Michel Almairac, and the pair went on to work together for a decade until Amandine left to join Fermenich in 2011.
The world-renowned perfumer loves the entire process of creating a fragrance through to the manufacturing, and is a visual person who can always envision what she wants to produce. Her inquiring mind has also meant that she is always travelling, visiting Thailand, Morocco , Brazil and Croatia with her husband and family.
