Amber Ruffin

Amber Ruffin is an Emmy and WGA Award-nominated writer, executive producer, and host known for her work on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and “The Amber Ruffin Show,” breaking ground as the first African American female to write for a late-night network talk show. After making history in 2014 as the first African American female to write for a late-night network talk show, Amber Ruffin became a pivotal writer for NBC’s ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers.’ Her role also included frequent on-screen appearances in popular segments such as ‘Amber Says What?’ and ‘Jokes Seth Can’t Tell.’ Prior to this, Ruffin cultivated her comedic talent through extensive improv and sketch work, beginning with local theater in Omaha in 2001. She went on to perform as a writer and performer for the improv comedy troupe Boom Chicago Amsterdam in 2008, before performing with The Second City in Denver and Chicago. In 2011, Ruffin joined the YouTube comedy group RobotDown and appeared on ‘Key & Peele.’ She was also a member of the sketch and musical comedy troupe Story Pirates and Sacred Fools Theater Company, performing in ‘King of Kong: A Musical Parody,’ which won Best Overall Musical at the 2014 New York International Fringe Festival.

Further demonstrating her broad appeal, Ruffin was appointed the voice actor for Purple, the new M&M’s spokescandy, in 2022.
