Amelia Kerr

Amelia Kerr is a decorated New Zealand cricketer, recognized for her record-breaking all-round performances and commitment to open dialogue about mental health. After becoming the youngest cricketer in history, male or female, to score a double century in One Day International cricket, Amelia Kerr solidified her status as a generational talent in June 2018. At just 17 years old, she achieved an unbeaten 232 runs against Ireland, setting a new record for the highest individual score in a women’s ODI match. Demonstrating her exceptional all-round capabilities in the same game, Kerr also secured her first five-wicket haul in WODIs, taking five wickets for just 17 runs.

This followed her One-Day International debut for New Zealand in November 2016 against Pakistan, with her formidable talent attracting national attention as early as age 14, when a viral video of her bowling contributed to her fast-tracking into the national team. Kerr’s consistent high-level performances led to her being awarded a central contract with New Zealand Cricket in August 2018. Her talent continued to be recognized on the global stage, earning her selections for New Zealand’s squad in major tournaments including the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 and the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. In March 2019, she received the prestigious ANZ International Women’s ODI Player of the Year award, further cementing her standing.

Following a standout performance in the final against South Africa in October 2024, Kerr was named Player of the Match. Her dominant contributions throughout the tournament also earned her the esteemed Player of the Tournament award. Concluding a year of significant achievement, Kerr was shortlisted for both the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year and ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year awards in 2024, reaffirming her position among the elite in international cricket.
