Stefan Kozlov was born on February 1, 1998, in Skopje, Macedonia, and began his professional tennis career in 2013. His father, Andrei Kozlov, is a tennis coach. Early in his career, Kozlov made his ATP World Tour debut as a wildcard at the 2013 Hall of Fame Tennis Championships at the age of 15. In 2014, he reached two junior Grand Slam finals, at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, and concluded the year by winning the Orange Bowl junior tournament.
Kozlov continued to progress, reaching his first ATP Challenger final in Sacramento in 2014. He secured his first career ATP level match win as a wildcard at the 2016 Ricoh Open, where he also advanced to his first career quarterfinal. He later won his first Challenger event in Columbus in 2016, followed by a second title at the 2017 Las Vegas Challenger. After a period, Kozlov experienced a resurgence in 2021, winning three Challenger titles in Columbus, Charlottesville, and Champaign, returning to the top 200 ranking.
The year 2022 marked his Grand Slam debut and first win at the Australian Open, where he defeated Jiří Veselý. He also reached his second ATP quarterfinal at the Delray Beach Open. That same year, he achieved his career-high ranking of No. 103 on July 18, 2022, after entering the main draw of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships as a lucky loser. His career prize money stands at $1,058,176.
