Amy Baserga

Amy Baserga, born on September 29, 2000, in Zürich, Switzerland, quickly established herself as a significant talent in the world of biathlon. Representing SC Einsiedeln, her early career was marked by notable achievements at the junior level. She demonstrated consistent performance and potential in a sport that combines cross-country skiing with rifle shooting.

Baserga’s junior career highlights include winning six medals at the Biathlon Junior World Championships. These achievements include a gold medal in the 7.5 km sprint and another gold in the 10 km pursuit at the 2021 Obertilliach championships. She also secured a bronze medal in the 12.5 km individual event at the 2020 Lenzerheide championships. Earlier, in the Youth World Championships, she earned a gold medal in the 7.5 km pursuit and a silver in the 6 km sprint at the 2019 Osrblie event, as well as a bronze in the 7.5 km pursuit at the 2018 Otepää championships. Her diverse skill set and early success positioned her as a promising athlete for future senior competitions. Before focusing on biathlon, Baserga participated in athletics, ski jumping, and cross-country skiing.

She transitioned to senior-level competition and made her Olympic debut at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. There, she competed in four biathlon events, contributing to the Swiss team’s 8th place finish in the mixed relay. Individually, she placed 69th in the individual event, 54th in the sprint, and 39th in the pursuit. Her continued progression in the sport is evidenced by her participation in the 2023 Oberhof and 2024 Nové Město na Moravě World Championships. In a significant career milestone, she achieved her first World Cup podium, securing third place in an individual race in Ruhpolding by achieving a perfect 20/20 shooting score. This performance, her career best, further solidified her reputation as a competitive biathlete on the international stage.
