Anastasia Dobromyslova

Anastasia Dobromyslova, born on 26 September 1984 in Kalinin, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union, began her darts career at the age of 12. She quickly achieved success, winning the Russian National Championship 10 times and securing the Girls’ World Masters title in 2001. Her early achievements also include two WDF Europe Youth Cup singles titles in 2001 and 2002. Dobromyslova’s professional major debut in 2004 at the Bavaria World Darts Trophy saw her reach the final, and in 2007, she made her BDO World Championship debut, reaching the semi-finals. She further solidified her standing by winning significant titles such as the England Open and British Open, and the ladies’ pairs title at the 2007 WDF World Cup. Her breakthrough moment arrived in 2008 when she won her first BDO World Championship, defeating then seven-time champion Trina Gulliver.

Following her initial World Championship victory, Dobromyslova made headlines by joining the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) circuit. She became the second woman to compete in the PDC World Championships in 2009. During her time with the PDC, she notably achieved a televised victory against male professional Vincent van der Voort at the 2009 Grand Slam of Darts. After a period with the PDC, Dobromyslova returned to the British Darts Organisation (BDO) in 2011. This move led to further significant achievements, including two more BDO World Championship titles in 2012 and 2013, making her a three-time world champion. She has consistently participated in major darts events, showcasing her enduring talent and commitment to the sport through various organizational changes.

Beyond her steel-tip darts achievements, Dobromyslova also competes in soft-tip darts, representing Russia at the International Darts Federation (IDF) World Cup and European Darts Union (EDU) European Championship. She holds titles as a former world and European champion in soft-tip darts. In 2012, she uniquely became the world champion in both soft-tip and steel-tip (501) darts in the same year. Dobromyslova, who resides in Ellesmere Port, England, is known for her nickname “From Russia with Love” and her walk-on music, “Bring Me To Life” by Evanescence. She frequently addresses the challenges faced by women in professional darts, contributing to discussions around gender equality in the sport.
