Anastasiya Merkushyna

Anastasiya Merkushyna is a distinguished Ukrainian biathlete renowned for her remarkable achievements on the world stage, transitioning from junior medalist to a consistent presence in World Cup and World Championship relays, and embracing an ambassadorial role for biathlon integrity. After earning a gold medal at the 2012 Youth World Championships in the 3 x 6 km relay, Anastasiya Merkushyna went on to establish herself as a formidable talent in biathlon. Her junior career was marked by consistent success, including silver medals in the 3 x 6 km relay at the 2011 and 2013 Youth World Championships, and a bronze medal in the 10km individual in 2013. She further secured three gold medals at the Junior European Championships in 2015 (Sprint and Pursuit) and 2016 (Individual), alongside multiple silver and bronze medals across various disciplines between 2012 and 2016.

She represented Ukraine at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, achieving her best individual result of 46th in pursuit and placing 11th in the relay. Her consistent excellence continued with a series of bronze medals in the 4 x 6 km relay at the World Championships in Östersund (2019), Antholz (2020), and Pokljuka (2021). In 2022, Merkushyna participated in her second Winter Olympics. Further cementing her standing as a top biathlete, she clinched a gold medal in the Sprint at the 2023 European Championships in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
