Anna Torv

Anna Torv was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on June 7, 1979. She spent her formative years growing up in Gold Coast, Queensland, after moving there with her mother and younger brother at the age of six. Torv pursued her passion for acting and graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney in 2001 with a performing arts degree. Her early career included stage work, notably playing Ophelia with the Bell Shakespeare Company in John Bell’s 2003 production of Hamlet. She also appeared in Australian television dramas like ‘The Secret Life of Us’ (2004–2005) as Nikki Martel, and provided voice and motion capture for the character Nariko in the 2007 video game ‘Heavenly Sword’.

Torv gained significant international recognition for her role as FBI agent Olivia Dunham in the Fox science fiction series ‘Fringe’, which ran from 2008 to 2013. Her portrayal earned her four consecutive Saturn Awards for Best Actress on Television, a record for any performer in that category.
