Anthony Martial

Anthony Jordan Martial, born on December 5, 1995, in Massy, Essonne, France, began his football journey with CO Les Ulis, a club known for producing talents like Thierry Henry and Patrice Evra. He developed quickly, joining the Lyon academy at just 14 years old in 2009. His prolific scoring for the U17 team, netting 32 goals in 21 games, earned him a call-up to the France national under-17 team. Martial made his professional debut with Lyon in December 2012 in a Europa League match. In 2013, he transferred to Monaco for €6 million, where he further honed his skills, scoring nine goals in 36 Ligue 1 games during his second season and extending his contract until 2019.

In 2015, Martial made a significant move to Manchester United for an initial fee of £36 million, becoming the world’s most expensive teenage footballer at the time. He quickly made an impact, scoring on his debut against Liverpool and earning the Golden Boy Award in 2015 as Europe’s best under-21 player. His first season at Old Trafford saw him win the 2015–16 FA Cup and finish as the club’s top scorer. Under Jose Mourinho, he continued to add to his trophy cabinet, winning the EFL Cup and the UEFA Europa League in the 2016–17 season. His most productive goalscoring season came in 2019–20, where he scored 23 goals across all competitions and was awarded Manchester United Players’ Player of the Year. Despite his successes, his form fluctuated in later seasons, leading to a loan spell at Sevilla in 2022.

After leaving Manchester United in 2024, Martial joined AEK Athens in September 2024, signing a three-year deal. He made an immediate impact in Greece, scoring key goals and contributing significantly to AEK’s title challenge. His performances earned him the Super League Greece Player of the Month award in November 2024. In September 2025, Martial transitioned to Liga MX, signing a two-year contract with Monterrey, where he continues his career as a forward.
