Arden Cho was born on August 16, 1985, in Amarillo, Texas, and raised in San Antonio and Plano, Texas, by South Korean immigrant parents. She later attended high school in Apple Valley, Minnesota. Cho graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, initially intending to pursue a career in law. During her time at university, she discovered an interest in acting through drama classes and became more engaged with Asian American culture.
Cho’s career began with odd jobs in Los Angeles while she sought acting opportunities. Her early work included a role in the short film ‘My First Crush’ in 2008. In 2011, she appeared in an episode of ‘Pretty Little Liars’ and ‘Rizzoli & Isles’. A significant turning point in her career came with her recurring role as Kira Yukimura in the MTV series ‘Teen Wolf’ from 2014 to 2016, a role which was upgraded to main cast for the fourth season. Following her departure from ‘Teen Wolf’, Cho took on a recurring role as Emily in ‘Chicago Med’ from 2018 to 2019, appearing in 17 episodes. Her work also includes a stunt performer credit for ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ in 2013.
More recently, Cho has undertaken several projects for Netflix. She starred as Ingrid Yun in the series ‘Partner Track’ in 2022 and appeared as June in the 2024 live-action adaptation of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’. In 2025, she took on the lead voice role of Rumi in the animated musical film ‘KPop Demon Hunters’. This film achieved significant success, becoming Netflix’s most-watched animated film by July 2025 and eventually Netflix’s most-watched film ever by August 2025 with 236 million views. Her performance earned her an Annie Award for Best Voice Acting – Feature in 2026. Cho was recognized in Forbes’ “100 Most Powerful Women in 2025” list and Gold House’s “100 Asia-Pacific Leaders with the Greatest Cultural Impact in the World” list in 2026. Beyond acting, she is also a highly-ranked poker player, having placed 662nd in the 2018 World Series of Poker Main Event, winning $21,750, and finishing second in the 2024 PGT Championship for $200,000.
