American comedian and actor Aron Kader is known for his playful attitude towards being an Iraqi; milking his culture and using it to his advantage. He is one of four members of the Axis of Evil Comedy Tour, a comedy tour featuring four Middle Eastern comedians along with special guest comedians, the name of which mimics George W. Bush’s designation of Iraq, Iran and North Korea as the “Axis of Evil”. Kader is a member of the Sultans of Satire since 2005; a stand-up comedy show presented by the Levantine Cultural Centre. He regularly performs at his local club the Comedy Store, in LA.
Kader’s acting credits include Beverly Hills S.U.V, and most notably, The Muslims are Coming!, a show which follows a group of Muslim American comedians attempt to banish ‘Islamophobia’ whilst touring the US. Many celebrities such as Rachel Maddow, David Cross and Jon Stewart are also featured in the film. In 2009, as part of Dubai Shopping Festival, Kader organised the Comedy Cafe, offering workshops to aspiring Middle Eastern comics over four weeks. Headline shows were held each Saturday which saw Axis of Evil comedians, as well as other Arab, Middle Eastern and Iranian comics. He returned to Dubai three years later hosting a second comedy workshop, with a mission to find two opening acts for his comedy show Aron Kader of Axis of Evil: Live in Dubai.
Comedians from the tour were included in the DVD release of Michael Moore’s film Fahrenheit 9/11, a controversial yet insightful documentary, criticising George Bush’s presidency.
