Art Briles

Art Briles is a distinguished Football coach, recognized for his strategic acumen and leadership across high school and collegiate levels. His career includes significant achievements, such as leading teams to multiple championships and developing notable talent. After leading Stephenville High School to four state championships, including back-to-back titles in 1993-1994 and again in 1998-1999, Art Briles established himself as a preeminent football coach recognized for his strategic acumen and leadership. Briles’ coaching journey began with assistant roles at Sundown and Sweetwater High Schools, quickly advancing to head coaching positions at Hamlin High School (1984-1985) and Georgetown High School (1986-1987).

His impactful tenure at Stephenville High School (1988-1999) transformed the program, culminating in four Texas state championships. During this period, he was instrumental in developing a potent offensive scheme and nurturing six of his quarterbacks, including Kevin Kolb and his son, Kendal Briles, to Division I collegiate programs. Briles holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University (1979) and a master’s degree in education from Abilene Christian University. Briles transitioned to collegiate coaching as the running backs coach at Texas Tech (2000-2002), where he notably improved the team’s rushing average and mentored future NFL players such as Ricky A.

He later made a brief but successful return to high school coaching at Mount Vernon High School in Texas (2019-2020), where he posted an impressive 20-6 record. Since 2022, Briles has returned to lead the Guelfi Firenze in the Italian Football League, guiding the team to an Italian Bowl championship in 2022. He continues to serve as head coach for Guelfi Firenze, leveraging his extensive experience in developing high-performing teams and executing championship-winning strategies.
