Originally from Greece and raised in Miami, Athena Dion began her career in the drag scene a decade ago. She secured her first position as a hostess in a nightclub, which allowed her to immerse herself in the culture of drag. Over time, she developed a distinctive public persona, earning the moniker “Greek Glamazon” and “Greek Goddess.” Her career progression includes hosting and performing at various events, building a significant following within the LGBTQ community, and advocating for new drag performers. She is recognized for her elaborate costumes and presentations, as well as her contributions to community platforms.
Athena Dion is the resident host and producer of several drag brunches in the Miami area, notably the R House Brunch in Wynwood, which combines dining with drag performances. This venture, established in collaboration with Rocco Carulli and Owen Bale, became a fixture in the South Florida entertainment scene and has hosted various celebrities including Ana Navarro, Ivy Queen, Billy Porter, and Gloria and Emilio Estefan. Beyond Miami, Athena Dion has expanded her reach internationally, headlining at the Jackie O’ Resort in Mykonos, Greece, and bringing her performances to her home country.
Throughout her career, Athena Dion has achieved various milestones and engaged in notable projects. In 2020, she organized Virtual Pride 2020 with the South Florida Pride Collective, bringing together various drag performers during a period of widespread event cancellations. She has also walked the runway at Miami Beach Pride for the LA label Marco Marco and performed as Posh Spice in a Spice Girls tribute for Mel B at the Sugar Factory. Athena Dion has used her platform to support her community through her organization, mydreamqueens.com, which arranges makeover events, toy drives, and drag performances for homeless shelters and hospitals. She has also mentored emerging talent within her extensive drag family, The Dion Dynasty.
