Gia Metric

Giorgio Triberio, known professionally as Gia Metric, was born on April 16, 1992, in Toronto, Ontario. Metric established a drag career in Toronto, later relocating to Vancouver where she became a prominent figure in the local drag scene. She was recognized as Vancouver’s Entertainer of the Year in 2016 and Vancouver’s Next Drag Superstar in 2018. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Metric consistently performed in drag multiple times a week. During this period, she also collaborated with other drag artists on online shows, adapting to changing circumstances while maintaining her presence in the entertainment industry.

In 2021, Gia Metric gained wider recognition as a competitor on the second season of ‘Canada’s Drag Race,’ where she finished in fourth place. Her performances on the show included playing Blue Scarymore in a slasher film parody and portraying Jim Carrey during the Snatch Game challenge. Outside of drag, Giorgio Triberio, who prefers he/him pronouns out of drag, recently achieved a silver medal in men’s solo free artistic swimming at the World Aquatics Masters Championships in Singapore. This accomplishment came despite only beginning formal training in the sport a year prior and having a background in high school volleyball, where he was a four-time national champion.

Metric’s entry into artistic swimming in 2024 stemmed from a fascination with the sport and an invitation from a friend and coach, Jordan Wuest. She trained with Vancouver Masters Synchro, targeting the World Aquatics Masters Championships. Her drag performance skills, including expressiveness and theatricality, contributed to her success in artistic swimming, highlighting a blend of her artistic and athletic abilities. This recent achievement has led her to consider participating in the Gay Games in Valencia.
