Avi Nash

Avi Nash was born on January 24, 1991, in Honolulu, Hawaii. His father is Indo-Guyanese, and his mother is from Mumbai, India, which contributed to his multicultural upbringing. He began his acting journey in his senior year of high school after accepting a dare to audition for a school play. Initially identifying as a visual artist, this experience marked a turning point in his career path. Nash pursued higher education at Stanford University at age 17, where he was involved with the Stanford Shakespeare Company. During this time, musician Sameer Gadhia, a classmate, encouraged Nash to seriously consider acting. Following his freshman year, Nash temporarily left Stanford to attend Anupam Kher’s acting school, Actor Prepares, in Mumbai for six months, immersing himself in Hindi-language acting, which he had also studied at Stanford. He later returned to Stanford to complete his degree, majoring in mathematical and computational sciences and also studying architecture.

Nash furthered his acting training in theatre at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in London, England, where he earned an MA in 2016. Before fully committing to acting, he also gained experience as a cook in a closed-door restaurant in Buenos Aires and led bike tours. His feature film debut was in “Learning to Drive” (2014) alongside Ben Kingsley and Patricia Clarkson. This film premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, where it received the First Runner Up for the People’s Choice Award, marking a significant early milestone in his film career.

His career saw a notable progression with his role as Siddiq in the AMC television series “The Walking Dead” (2017–2020), where he played the show’s first male Muslim-American character. This role spanned 33 episodes across seasons 8, 9, and 10, elevating his public profile within the entertainment industry. He became a series regular for seasons 9 and 10. More recently, Nash joined the cast of the Apple TV+ series “Silo” (2023–present) as Lukas Kyle, a main cast member appearing in 15 episodes projected through 2025. He also appeared in an episode of “Black Mirror” (2023). Nash is fluent in Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, Portuguese, and English, and also speaks Italian and French, showcasing his strong linguistic capabilities.
