Awal Ashaari

Awal Ashaari, a prominent figure in Malaysian entertainment, boasts a diverse career as an actor, model, and television host. Born in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, Awal pursued a diploma in mass communications from Universiti Teknologi MARA before embarking on his professional journey.

His career began with a stint as an account executive at Leo Burnett advertising, but his passion for media led him to become a newsreader for 8TV’s Twenty Hundred News in 2003. During this time, Awal also made a mark in the modeling industry, participating in FCUK’s model search competition in 2004.

Awal’s versatility shines through his roles as a television host, notably on shows like Beat TV on Astro Ria and as the former host of One in a Million, a popular Malaysian reality singing competition. His charismatic presence extended to acting, where he appeared in well-received Malay dramas such as “Impak Maksima,” “Noktah Erna,” and “Cinta Medik.”

In 2012, Awal married actress Scha Alyahya, with whom he shares two children.
