Barrett Wilbert Weed

Barrett Wilbert Weed was born on November 6, 1988, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. She began performing at age five with the Boston Children’s Opera in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She completed most of her high school education at the Walnut Hill School, a performing arts institution, before attending Elon University. In 2011, she graduated from Elon University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in musical theatre. In recognition of her early career achievements, Elon University awarded her the 2019 Top 10 Under 10 Alumni Award, an annual honor for alumni demonstrating professional success and community impact.

Weed’s career began with her Broadway debut in “Lysistrata Jones” (2011-2012) as an understudy. She then performed in “Bare: The Musical” (2012-2013) at New World Stages, portraying the role of Nadia. A significant turning point in her career was originating the role of Veronica Sawyer in “Heathers: The Musical,” with its premiere in Los Angeles in 2013 before moving Off-Broadway in 2014. Her performance earned her nominations for a Lucille Lortel Award and a Drama Desk Award. Following “Heathers,” she took on the role of Denise in “FOUND The Musical” (2014) Off-Broadway and played Sally Bowles in “Cabaret” (2015) at Signature Theatre, for which she received the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical.

From 2017 to 2020, Weed originated the role of Janis Sarkisian in the Broadway production of “Mean Girls,” based on the film. Her work in “Mean Girls” garnered her three Broadway.com Audience Awards in 2018. Beyond the stage, she has expanded into television and web series. She has voiced Octavia “Via” Goetia in the animated web series “Helluva Boss” since 2020. In 2021, she appeared in the TV mini-series “Swipe Monster” as Courtney, also serving as an executive producer, and as Lizzie in the TV series “Bridge and Tunnel.” Her television credits also include appearances in “Crashing” (2019) and “Blue Bloods” (2020).
