Becca Fitzpatrick, born on February 3, 1979, in Ogden, Utah, developed an early passion for reading, particularly Nancy Drew novels. Her childhood was marked by an interest in storytelling, fueled by 1980s television and movies. Despite this early inclination, she did not initially pursue writing professionally. After moving to Idaho for high school, she graduated as valedictorian in 1997, participating in various activities such as playing the clarinet and running cross country. She then attended Brigham Young University, earning a degree in Community Health in 2001. Following her graduation, Fitzpatrick worked at an alternative high school in Provo, Utah, serving in multiple roles including teacher and secretary.
Fitzpatrick’s writing career began in February 2003, when she enrolled in an online writing class as a birthday gift from her husband. This experience rekindled her interest in storytelling. After four years and multiple rejections, she published her debut novel, “Hush, Hush,” in 2009 through Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers. The book quickly became a New York Times bestseller and the first installment of the successful Hush, Hush saga. The series continued with “Crescendo” in 2010, “Silence” in 2011, and “Finale” in 2012, all of which also achieved New York Times bestseller status. These novels established her reputation within the young adult fantasy and romance genres.
Beyond the Hush, Hush saga, Fitzpatrick has authored other standalone novels, including “Black Ice” and “Dangerous Lies.” She has also contributed to literary collections, such as “Kiss Me Deadly: 13 Tales of Paranormal Love,” showcasing her versatility within the genre. Her works are frequently noted for their romantic themes and engaging narratives designed for young adult audiences. Fitzpatrick currently resides in Colorado with her family, continuing her career as an author.
