Ben Coates

A Super Bowl Champion and five-time Pro Bowl selection, Ben Coates established himself as one of the most dominant tight ends in NFL history, achieving induction into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame in 2008 and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Hall of Fame in 2018. Prior to his professional career, Coates excelled as a multi-sport athlete at Livingstone College, where he set school football records with 103 receptions for 1,268 yards and 18 touchdowns as a tight end. His collegiate performance earned him a later induction into the CIAA Hall of Fame in 2018. Coates was drafted by the New England Patriots in the fifth round of the 1991 NFL Draft.

Upon his retirement, Coates was acknowledged as the fourth all-time leading tight end in NFL history by total receptions, cementing his legacy in the sport. Following his illustrious playing career, Coates transitioned into coaching, contributing his expertise to various teams. His coaching roles included positions at his alma mater, Livingstone College, as a tight ends coach for the Cleveland Browns, and as an assistant coach for the Dallas Cowboys and the Frankfurt Galaxy. His impact on the game continues to be celebrated, underscored by his induction into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame in 2008.
