Ben Loomis achieved a silver medal in Nordic combined at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, marking the first U.S. medal in this discipline at a Youth Games. This significant accomplishment led to him being named the 2016 USSA Nordic Combined Athlete of the Year by the United States Ski and Snowboard Association. Loomis further demonstrated his prowess on the junior circuit, participating in the International Ski Federation (FIS) Junior World Championships in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
During these championships, he secured 7th place in the team normal hill/4x5K event in both 2015 and 2017, and a 6th-place finish in the same event in 2016. His strong performances culminated at the 2018 Junior World Championships, where he earned a 3rd-place finish in the 10k individual Gundersen event and a 4th-place finish in the 5k individual Gundersen event. Transitioning to his senior career, Loomis competed at the World Championships in 2017, 2019, and 2021, achieving a notable 31st-place finish in the 10k individual Gundersen event in 2021. He made his Olympic debut representing the United States at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Korea, competing in all Nordic combined events.
Army World Class Athlete Program in 2019, demonstrating his commitment to service alongside sport. He currently holds the rank of Sergeant with the Utah National Guard, combining his elite athletic career with military dedication.
