Emily Vancamp

Emily Irene VanCamp was born on May 12, 1986, in Port Perry, Ontario, Canada. Her early life was defined by a commitment to dance, practicing from the age of three. At 11, she pursued professional dance training in Montreal, and by 12, she was accepted into the École supérieure de ballet du Québec, relocating to live with a French-Canadian family to further her ballet studies. Her introduction to acting came in 1998, observing her sister Katie on a film set. This experience led her to enroll in acting classes, secure an agent, and appear in commercials, eventually landing her first television role in “Are You Afraid of the Dark?”

VanCamp’s professional acting career began to gain momentum with a series regular role in The WB’s “Glory Days” in 2002. This was followed by her breakthrough as Amy Abbott in “Everwood” (2002–2006), where her portrayal of a character navigating complex emotional issues earned her multiple Teen Choice Award nominations. She then joined the cast of ABC’s “Brothers & Sisters” (2007–2010), playing Rebecca Harper, a role which allowed her to demonstrate her capacity for dramatic performances alongside an established ensemble. During this period, she also appeared in films such as “Carriers” (2009) and the critically recognized independent drama “Norman” (2010), for which she received awards from the San Diego Film Festival and the Breckenridge Festival of Film.

Her career further escalated with the lead role of Emily Thorne/Amanda Clarke in the ABC drama “Revenge” (2011–2015), a role that brought her significant public recognition and multiple Teen Choice Award nominations. Concurrently, she entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Sharon Carter/Agent 13 in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (2014) and reprised the role in “Captain America: Civil War” (2016), “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” (2021), and the animated series “What If…?” (2021–2024). From 2018 to 2022, VanCamp starred as Nicolette ‘Nic’ Nevin in the Fox medical drama “The Resident,” and she has other projects in post-production, including “Little Audrey.”
