Bennett White, known professionally as Bennett The Sage, commenced his career in March 2008 as a video game reviewer. He initially published his content on GameTrailers.com under the pseudonym Strayer. His early work gained recognition, leading him to connect with ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com (TGWTG), a prominent platform for online video content creators. After participating in the site’s “Best of Blogs” contest, where he secured the majority of votes, he officially joined TGWTG.

On TGWTG, Bennett The Sage developed several notable series. His initial series, “Sage Reviews,” focused on examining significant video games of the 21st century and compiling lists of prominent titles in gaming history. In February 2009, he launched “Masterpiece Fanfic Theatre,” where he reviewed fan fiction, often highlighting “the best of the worst.” This series ran until early 2011. In August 2009, he introduced “Comic Conventions,” a series dedicated to sequential art, where he explored specific comics and their broader industry context. By November 2013, he shifted his primary focus from video game reviews to other content, notably his “Anime Abandon” series, which subsequently became his main area of content creation. During his tenure, he also made appearances in other creators’ videos and participated in charity donation drives, including one for the Ronald McDonald House.

Throughout his career, Bennett The Sage expanded his content beyond reviews, exploring various formats such as vlogs, Q&A panels from conventions, and “Nuts and Bolts” episodes covering anime topics. He has engaged with his audience through platforms like YouTube and Patreon, contributing to a diverse range of pop culture discussions.
