Brad Richards is a Canadian former professional ice hockey center who achieved success as a two-time Stanley Cup champion and an Olympic athlete. He is known for his leadership and skill on the ice. After a highly decorated junior career, which included earning the Jean Béliveau Trophy for leading the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with 186 points and receiving the Stafford Smythe Memorial Trophy as MVP of the 2000 Memorial Cup, Brad Richards embarked on a distinguished 15-season professional ice hockey career. During his final junior season with the Rimouski Océanic, Richards secured the Telus Cup as the leagues best offensive player, the QMJHL and Canadian Hockey League Plus/Minus Awards, and was named a First-Team All-Star in both leagues.
Louis Blues. Demonstrating a long-standing commitment to community support, he organized the Brad Richards PEI Celebrity Golf Classic, an annual event that benefits the Childrens Wish Foundation and the Autism Society of Prince Edward Island. During his playing career, Richards provided a suite for pediatric cancer patients at Tampa Bay Lightning games and extended similar charitable efforts to the Childrens Medical Centers Oncology Department in Dallas. In September 2010, he made a substantial donation of $500,000 to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown.
Fluent in both English and French, Richards was inducted into the Tampa Bay Lightning Hall of Fame in 2024, recognizing his enduring legacy with the franchise.
