Brenton Thwaites

Brenton Thwaites was born on August 10, 1989, in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. His early interests included becoming a policeman or firefighter, but he eventually pursued filmmaking. He graduated from Cairns State High School in 2006 and later studied acting at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), graduating in 2010. During his youth, Thwaites performed in a live production of “Romeo and Juliet” at the age of 16.

Thwaites began his acting career in Australia, making his film debut in the independent film “Charge Over You” in 2010. He gained early recognition with a starring role as Luke Gallagher in the Fox8 teen drama series “SLiDE” (2011) and a recurring role as Stu Henderson in the popular Australian soap opera “Home and Away” (2011–2012). Following his work in Australia, Thwaites relocated to the United States to further his acting career, quickly securing roles in American productions.

His transition to Hollywood marked a significant turning point, leading to prominent roles in films such as “Blue Lagoon: The Awakening” (2012), “Oculus” (2013), and “Maleficent” (2014) as Prince Phillip. He starred as Jonas in “The Giver” (2014) and Bek in “Gods of Egypt” (2016). A major milestone was his casting as Henry Turner in “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” (2017). Thwaites further expanded his career into television with a main role as Dick Grayson / Robin / Nightwing in the DC Universe / HBO Max series “Titans” from 2018 to 2023.
