When Cassie met producer Ryan Leslie in 2004, they collaborated on her song, “Me & You.” Little did she know that Diddy would hear it and offer to work on her debut album, which reached number four on the Billboard 200 chart, selling nearly 325K copies in America. Now, Cassie’s signed to Interscope Records.
Before Cassie sang, she modeled. Cassie was only fourteen when she started getting placements, and two years later, she was seen in major fashion catalogs like Delia’s and Seventeen Magazine. She’d go on to feature in campaigns for Abercrombie & Fitch and Adidas, commercials for Clean and Clear, and music videos for Mario before she moved to New York, where she attended the Broadway Dance Center.
After collaborating with Ryan Leslie and Diddy, Cassie’s single “Me & You” took off. With over one million digital downloads, the song peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100. Years later, it has nearly 200 million streams on Spotify. With this success, it’s no wonder the single won an ASCAP Pop Music Award. The doors opened for Cassie collaborate with artists like Akon, G-Eazy, Lil Wayne, Nicky Minaj, Rick Ross, and Wiz Khalifa, to name a few. And in 2013, she released RockaByeBaby, which Dazed & Confused named the “Best Mixtape of the Year.”
As her music career progressed, Cassie continued to get more modeling gigs. She was signed to Wilhelmina Models, earning her placements with Bust, GQ, and Calvin Klein. She even became the face of Forever 21’s summer collection.
Additionally, Cassie’s explored acting: after debuting in Step Up 2: The Streets, she starred in the rom-com, The Perfect Match, she featured in FOX’s hit musical drama, Empire, and she appeared in music videos for high-profile artists like Chris Brown, The Black Eyed Peas, and Kanye West.
