Bri Bagwell, the Texas Female Artist of the Decade and reigning Female Vocalist of the Year, has cultivated a significant presence on the Texas Country music scene. Her audience has grown and diversified as she advanced through her musical career. Starting with her first full-length release, “Banned from Santa Fe” in 2011, and continuing to her 2022 album “Corazón y Cabeza” (Heart and Head), Bagwell has consistently delivered engaging live performances and pioneering artistry, building a loyal fan base for over ten years.
Born in Las Cruces, NM, Bri Bagwell later relocated to New Braunfels, TX. Her musical journey began early, writing poems in her childhood bedroom and teaching herself piano. At 14, she gained her first experience in honky-tonk music singing in her twin brothers’ band. This foundation led to her first solo performance during her college years. After high school, Bagwell pursued higher education at the University of Texas in Austin, drawn by the city’s vibrant music scene. During her time in Austin, she learned to play the guitar, choosing it for its portability compared to a piano. Surrounded by fellow musicians, she was soon performing regularly.
Following earning her marketing degree, Bri Bagwell initially worked at a startup company in Austin. However, the increasing frequency of her music performances necessitated a decision between her corporate career and her musical aspirations. After three months, she transitioned fully into her music career. This decision proved pivotal, contributing to her achievement of twelve #1 songs in Texas and multiple Female Vocalist of the Year awards. Her talent has also garnered national attention, with People Magazine noting her new album and comparing her to country music artists such as Ashley McBryde and Morgan Wade. Bagwell’s musical influences include artists like Johnny Cash, Dwight Yoakam, Miranda Lambert, and George Strait. She has shared stages with Willie Nelson, Gary Allan, Robert Earl Keen, and Kacey Musgraves, among others, performing over 100 shows annually.
