Brian Jordan Alvarez

Brian Jordan Alvarez was born in New York City in 1987 to a Colombian mother and American father. At the age of four, his family relocated to rural Tennessee. He later attended the North Carolina School of the Arts for his senior year of high school and subsequently earned a BFA in acting from the University of Southern California. After graduating in 2009, he established his career in Los Angeles, engaging in both acting and filmmaking from a young age.

Throughout his career, Alvarez has accrued a diverse range of acting credits across television, film, and digital platforms. Notable early television roles include appearances in “Hot in Cleveland” (2015), “Life in Pieces” (2015), and “2 Broke Girls” (2016). He gained recurring roles as Wesley in “Jane the Virgin” (2015–2016) and Estéfan Gloria in the revival of “Will & Grace” (2018–2020), portraying Jack McFarland’s fiancé and later husband. He has also appeared in films such as “M3GAN” (2022) and “80 for Brady” (2023).

Alvarez has also made significant contributions as a writer, director, and producer. In 2016, he created, wrote, directed, and starred in the five-part web comedy series “The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo,” which was featured at the Tribeca Film Festival and nominated for a Gotham Award for Breakthrough Series – Shortform. More recently, he created, wrote, directed, and stars in the FX comedy series “English Teacher,” which premiered to critical acclaim in 2024 and was renewed for a second season. His social media presence has also garnered success, particularly with viral videos featuring his character TJ Mack, including the improvised song “Sitting” in 2023.
