Bridie Carter

Achieving significant recognition for her starring role as Tess Silverman McLeod, Bridie Carter appeared in 146 episodes across the first six seasons of the Nine Network series McLeod’s Daughters from 2001 to 2006. Her performance garnered multiple accolades, including a Silver Logie nomination for Most Popular Actress in both 2003 and 2004, and a Silver Logie nomination for Most Outstanding Actress in 2004, an industry-voted award. She continued to receive nominations for Most Popular Actress and the prestigious Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television in 2005 and 2006. Prior to this breakthrough, Carter graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 1994, building a foundation with roles in Australian television series such as G.P., Water Rats, All Saints, and Murder Call.

In 2000, she held a main role as Senior Constable Debbie Curtis in Above the Law. Following her impactful tenure on McLeod’s Daughters, Carter diversified her work across television and theatre. In 2007, she demonstrated her versatility and popularity by winning the season of Dancing with the Stars alongside professional dancer Craig Monley. She reunited with McLeod’s Daughters co-star Aaron Jeffery for a stage production of A.R.

Gurney’s Love Letters in 2009. From 2015 to 2018, Carter joined the cast of the comedy-drama series 800 Words, portraying the character of Jan across three seasons and 40 episodes. Most recently, in 2021, Bridie Carter took on a recurring role as Susie McAllister in the long-running soap opera Home and Away. This marked her third appearance in the iconic series, following earlier guest roles in 1995 and 1999, showcasing her enduring presence and adaptability within the Australian television landscape.
