Born on December 15, 1988, in Jessore, Bangladesh, Shamim Hasan Sarkar displayed an early interest in acting, participating in school drama competitions. He pursued higher education, earning a college degree from Jhenaidah Cadet College, followed by a master’s degree in construction management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. During his time at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), he co-founded the MIST Drama and Film Society, where he consistently received awards for his acting performances, including top prizes in various competitions. The society notably performed at the Inter-university Drama Festival in 2011.
After graduating, Sarkar initially focused on his professional career. In 2013, while pursuing his master’s degree abroad, he launched ‘Mango Squad’ on YouTube, building a significant following rapidly. This digital success led to a pivotal turning point in his career when director Mabrur Rashid Bannah offered him a role in the TV serial ‘Nine and a half’ upon his return to Bangladesh. This marked his entry into the Bangladeshi television industry, where he gained further recognition for his work in series such as ‘House #44’ (NTV) and his debut single drama, ‘Problem Ta Ki?’. He also contributed to the ROBI TV commercial for the ‘Modhur’ offer and the short film on clean Dhaka, ‘Poriborton Chai’.
Shamim Hasan Sarkar has since expanded his acting portfolio to include various TV serials, single dramas, telefilms, short films, and internet commercials. His career progression includes notable roles in ‘Bachelor Point’ (2018–2020) and several TV movies like ‘Paper Girl’ (2021) and ‘Mitthabadi Baba’ (2022). He further starred in ‘Mr. Bangladesh’ (2018) and the 2023 film ‘GPL’, demonstrating his versatility across different media. Beyond acting, he has ventured into music, releasing the single ‘Nijer Gaan’ with Mango Squad. As a public figure, he has amassed a large following on social media, using platforms like Instagram to share behind-the-scenes content and connect with his audience.
