Brittany Raymond is a 25-year-old actress and singer from Canada. She can be recognised for her portrayal of Riley on the hit dance show The Next Step, originally broadcast on The Family Channel and more recently Netflix’s Cheerleading thriller, Dare Me.
Raymond was called upon to act as Riley in the Family Channel series The Next Step in 2013 and portrayed the role until 2019. She played the lead role in the drama alongside Trevor Tordjman who played her on and off boyfriend, James. This series holds the record of the largest audience of any series in the channel. Since The Next Step, the talented actress has starred in the film Extracurricular in 2018 and a number of short film and television shows. In 2019, she was cast in the role of Cori Ross in Netflix’s cheerleading thriller series, Dare Me, based on the novel of the same name by Megan Abbott, which is an unflinching exploration of the toxic relationships and how dangerous the teenage mind can be.
Raymond’s expertise does not only lie in performing on screen acting but she is also a world-class teacher at the Joanne Chapman’s School of Dance. Her expertise lies within hip-hop and contemporary styles of dance. She received the nomination for the Canadian Screen Award twice, one for Best Performance in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series. She received nominations at the 3rd Canadian Screen Awards in 2015 and at the 5th Canadian Screen Awards in 2017 for The Next Step. She went on to win the award in 2017.
