About

Cameron Marley Kasky, born on November 11, 2000, in Hollywood, Florida, gained national recognition as an American activist against gun violence. Prior to the tragic events of February 2018, Kasky was a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, involved in the drama club. The mass shooting at his high school on February 14, 2018, profoundly impacted him and served as a catalyst for his activism. Following the shooting, Kasky, alongside fellow students, co-founded Never Again MSD (#NeverAgain), a student-led advocacy group focused on gun violence prevention. This organization quickly mobilized, drawing significant media attention and support for its cause. Kasky attended Columbia University for several semesters after high school.

As a co-founder of Never Again MSD, Kasky played a pivotal role in organizing the March for Our Lives, a nationwide student protest held in Washington, D.C., on March 24, 2018. This event was a significant milestone in the gun control movement, attracting large crowds and amplifying the voices of young people advocating for legislative change. Kasky was recognized for his efforts by being included in Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People of 2018.” His advocacy included public engagements, such as a televised town hall session with Senator Marco Rubio, where Kasky directly questioned the senator about his stance on NRA donations and gun control measures. Despite receiving death threats and being accused of being a “crisis actor,” Kasky continued to advocate for stricter gun laws.

In September 2018, Kasky announced his departure from March for Our Lives to focus on personal well-being, including addressing mental health concerns. This decision highlighted the personal toll of his activism. He launched a podcast, “Cameron Knows Nothing,” as a new platform for expression. Kasky has also engaged in political endorsements, supporting Andrew Yang and subsequently Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden in recent presidential primaries. He has publicly identified as queer, emphasizing the importance of identity and the contributions of queer activists. In September 2025, Kasky indicated an interest in running in the 2026 Democratic primary for New York’s 12th congressional district, signaling a potential career progression into electoral politics.
