Candy Bauer

Candy Bauer was born on July 31, 1986, in Zschopau, East Germany. He embarked on his professional bobsleigh career in 2013 as a brakeman for the German national team. Bauer quickly established himself in the sport, known for his physical strength and contributions to the team’s propulsion and stability during races. His early career saw him competing in various national and international events, laying the groundwork for his future Olympic success.

Bauer’s career progression is marked by consistent high-level performance and a succession of championship titles. He achieved his first major international success at the IBSF World Championships, securing a silver medal in the four-man event in 2016 in Igls, Austria. The following year, in 2017, he earned his first World Championship gold medal in the four-man bobsleigh at Königssee, Germany. This period demonstrated his growing influence within the German bobsleigh program.

His most significant achievements include two Olympic gold medals in the four-man bobsleigh. He first captured Olympic gold at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics and repeated this success at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Additionally, Bauer has accumulated five World Championship gold medals in the four-man event, winning in 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2023. He also holds two European Championship gold medals from 2021 and 2024, along with multiple silver and bronze medals in the same competition.
