Carey Means

Carey Means was born on December 4, 1966, in St. Louis, Missouri. He pursued his higher education at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Fine Arts/Vocal Music. This educational background provided him with a strong foundation in both vocal technique and performance. Means’ early career included extensive involvement in stage productions, showcasing his range as a classically trained Shakespearean actor. He performed with Theatre of the Stars in productions such as “South Pacific” and with Actors Express in “It’s a Wonderful Town.” His theatrical work also includes roles in “Two Trains Running,” “A Soldier’s Play,” and “Waiting for Godot,”
demonstrating his versatility across different dramatic genres. Beyond acting, he was a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus and the Atlanta Opera Chorus, highlighting his musical talents. Means also engaged in live performance at the Georgia Renaissance Festival, where he portrayed Sir Richard Do Good.

His voice-acting career gained significant recognition with his role as Frylock in the Adult Swim television series “Aqua Teen Hunger Force,” which began in 2000 and continued through 2023 for 143 episodes. Frylock has become a trademark role for Means, extending to “Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters” in 2007, the video game “Aqua Teen Hunger Force Zombie Ninja Pro-Am” in the same year, and subsequent animated productions like “Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm” (2022) and “Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Aquadonk Side Pieces” (2022). Means also lent his voice to the character Thundercleese in “The Brak Show” from 2000 to 2003, spanning 22 episodes. Later, he voiced Jonah Bishop, Tony Stanza, and Outbox 1A in the Nickelodeon animated series “Welcome to the Wayne” from 2017 to 2019 across 9 episodes. His career reflects a sustained engagement in diverse entertainment mediums, from classical theatre to prominent animated television and film.
