Her maternal great-grandmother was the renowned fashion editor Diana Vreeland. During her childhood, Vreeland lived for four months at the German Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica, where her father was stationed. Following her parents’ divorce, she moved with her mother to a Siddha Yoga ashram in Upstate New York, before relocating to Belvedere, Marin County, California, to live with her grandparents. After high school, Vreeland moved to Los Angeles to pursue a music career.
In Los Angeles, Vreeland worked as a waitress and bartender while developing her music career. She filmed a reality television show pilot episode produced by Ryan Seacrest, which did not proceed past production. In 2013, she participated in the twelfth season of American Idol but was dismissed due to her prior association with Seacrest. Her music career advanced in 2014 when she signed with the boutique label BlessandSee, enabling her to focus on music full-time. She released the single “Unbreakable Love” and, in 2018, her self-produced six-song EP titled Like a Woman Like a Drunkard Like an Animal. Vreeland publicly acknowledged Fiona Apple and Portishead as significant musical influences. She continued to develop new music, including a project titled Please Feel, which she began in 2018. Her first full album, Notes on Sex and Wine, was released in 2020.
