Widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders of his generation, Casemiro helped overhaul Real Madrid’s midfield before joining Manchester United. The Brazilian ace won eighteen trophies in total at Real Madrid, including three FIFA Club World Cups, three La Liga titles, five UEFA Champions Leagues, and one Copa del Rey.

The Brazilian midfielder has been worth every penny of his £70million price tag, bringing genuine leadership and steel to a successful season on the pitch for Erik ten Hag’s side. Known for his aggressive play, strength and incredible work rate, he inspired United to reach the FA Cup final during their victory over Brighton in the semi and also helped the Red Devils nail victory in the Carabao Cup. Casemiro has impressed as a full international for Brazil since 2011, winning the 2019 Copa América tournament and joining his country’s squad at both the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups.
Like many other Brazilian footballing legends, Casemiro found his passion at an early age playing football with other children on the streets of his native São Paulo. Before long he was discovered by the Paulista De Futebol academy (an affiliate of São Paulo’s academy) and worked his way up through the youth system before making 92 appearances for São Paulo. The talented midfielder signed for Real Madrid in 2013 and went on to enjoy prolific success with the club between 2016 and 2022. Previously nicknamed “The Tank” thanks to his tenacity on the pitch, he has already had a huge impact for Manchester United since signing for the club.
