About

Cat Simmons was born on May 4, 1981, in Blackburn, Lancashire, England. Her foundational training in acting, singing, and dancing commenced at Oldham Theatre Workshop and the National Youth Music Theatre. She furthered her education at Pleckgate High School, Mathematics and Computing College, before relocating to London at 17 to pursue her acting ambitions professionally. Simmons’ early career included notable stage performances, such as her role as Joyce in the Young Vic’s production of Langston Hughes’ “Simply Heavenly” and as the Princess in a production of “Aladdin” at the Old Vic Theatre, where she performed alongside Ian McKellen. These early experiences laid the groundwork for her subsequent work in various entertainment sectors.

Simmons gained wider recognition for her television roles, particularly as DC Kezia Walker in the long-running ITV drama “The Bill,” a role she maintained for 98 episodes between 2006 and 2009. She also appeared as Scarlett Anderson in “Family Affairs” and made appearances in series like “No Angels” and “Casualty.” Her film credits include “Life and Lyrics,” where she played Sista Twista. Throughout her career, Simmons has consistently engaged in theatre, taking on significant roles such as Nancy in Cameron Mackintosh’s production of “Oliver!” and Mary Magdalene in Gale Edwards’ “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Her commitment to both stage and screen highlights a versatile and sustained career in the entertainment industry.

More recently, Simmons has continued her television work with roles in “The Holiday” (2021), “Ordinary Lies” (2015), “Chuck Chuck Baby” (2023), and “All Creatures Great & Small” (2023). She has also appeared in “Dune: Part Two” (2024) and several upcoming television series slated for 2025, including “Grace,” “Out There,” and “Patience.” In 2018, she joined the cast of the West End production of “Come From Away” and in 2024, it was announced she would portray Helene in the London premiere of “Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812” at the Donmar Warehouse. These recent projects demonstrate an ongoing engagement across diverse platforms.
