United States Chad Dukes is a radio personality and podcaster who has hosted various shows primarily in the Washington D.C. area sports talk radio market.
Chad Dukes was the afternoon drivetime host of Chad Dukes Vs. the World on WJFK 106.7 The Fan, a sports talk format radio station in the greater Washington D.C. area.
Chad Dukes worked with CBS Radio, which included 106.7 The Fan, during his time as a radio personality. He was fired by the station's parent company, Entercom, after they learned of 'racist and other inappropriate comments' he made in episodes of his personal podcast.
Chad Dukes, born Chad Sisson on December 7, 1978, in Alexandria, Virginia, embarked on his radio broadcasting career while attending George Mason University, working at the college radio station WGMU. Before his professional debut, he started in the promotions department at 98.7 WMZQ. His career progressed to an internship with “The Sports Junkies” at WHFS (99.1) in Washington, D.C., where he met Oscar “The Big O” Santana. Together, they developed the “Big O and Dukes Show,” which first aired at night and gained a following. The show experienced an initial halt in 2005 when WHFS changed its format to Spanish language programming, rebranding as WLZL “El Zol.” Later that year, the “Big O and Dukes Show” relocated to WJFK/WHFS (105.7) in Baltimore, Maryland, occupying the midday slot. The program evolved to “Ed Norris with Big O & Dukes” after incorporating former Baltimore police commissioner Ed Norris. However, Dukes and Santana were eventually dropped, and the show was renamed the “Ed Norris Show.” Dukes then transitioned to ESPN Radio 1300 AM, co-hosting an afternoon drive sports/talk show.
In June 2006, Dukes and Santana moved to Phoenix, Arizona, to take over “The Phil Hendrie Show” on KZON. Their tenure in Arizona concluded when KZON shifted its format to hip hop in June 2007. They returned to the Washington, D.C., airwaves on July 16, 2007, with “The Big O and Dukes Show” debuting on WJFK-FM in the evening. By 2008, the show had moved to middays. A significant turning point occurred on July 20, 2009, when WJFK-FM changed its format from hot talk to sports talk radio, becoming 106.7 The Fan DC. Dukes then co-hosted “The LaVar Arrington Show with Chad Dukes” from 2-6 p.m. alongside former Washington Redskins linebacker LaVar Arrington, also hosting a solo show, “Chad Dukes Vs. The World,” from 6-7 p.m. This arrangement continued until July 2014 when Arrington departed for a full-time position with the NFL Network, leading to the 2-6 p.m. block being renamed “Chad Dukes Vs. The World.”
Beyond his main radio roles, Dukes engaged in several side projects. He co-hosted the “Snack and Soda Show” on WJFK from 2007–08, a program where he and producer Matt Cahill, under pseudonyms, reviewed snack foods and discussed industry news. He has also hosted “Weird and Pissed Off” and “The Pinball Shitheads” podcasts, and was the host of “The Chad Dukes Wrestling Show” Podcast. On July 16, 2010, Dukes and Santana reunited for a weekly podcast, reviving the style of their terrestrial radio show. In a significant career development, on October 30, 2020, WJFK 106.7 announced Dukes’s termination due to “racist and other inappropriate comments” made on his personal podcast. As of January 1, 2021, he hosts “The Chad Dukes Show,” a podcast.
