Talented Chad Owens is an actor, TV host, and former American football wide receiver. He first came to prominence as a hugely successful college football player, starring for the University of Hawaii’s Warriors team before becoming one of the major names of the Canadian Football League (CFL), being named its Most Outstanding Player in 2012 and winning two Grey Cups (the CFL’s Championship cup). He stepped down from the CFL in 2018 after making over 100 appearances for various teams. Since then, he has pursued an acting and hosting career and can be seen fronting The CO2 Run Dwn, a web sports talk show based in Honolulu. He is hugely popular on social media, boasting close to 50,000 followers across various platforms.
Owens was a star football and basketball player at high school, even winning the state championship in the latter sport. However, whilst studying at the University of Hawaii, he became a football star, winning two Hawaii Bowls, breaking the school record for career yardage, and winning the Mosi Tatupu Award. His professional career began to take off in 2010 when he was signed by the Toronto Argonauts. Within months of signing, he’d been named the Most Outstanding Special Teams Player in the CFL. He stayed with the Argonauts for five years, setting all kinds of records that still stand today, including the most all-purpose yards run in one season. Unsurprisingly, he was soon winning Outstanding Player of the Year Awards and was one of the highest-paid players in the game.
After a spell with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Owens hung up his helmet to seek fresh challenges in the world of television.
